INSTRUCTOR TRAINING & PUBLICATIONS was founded by Brian M Stratton ADI in 1988 and is dedicated to delivering bespoke training which is constructive, helpful and clearly targeted at specific disciplines.
Outstanding results have been consistently achieved over the years at all levels: ADI, Cardington, ORDIT, Check Test and, most recently, the Standards Check where seven clients consecutively were awarded a Grade A, with fifteen As having been achieved in the first six months. The total now stands at 220 [so far] with six scores of 51/51 achieved and seven of 50/51.
Initially offering training for the ADI Part 1, 2 and 3, the range of services has grown to include: Standards Check Guidance, Cardington Coaching, ORDIT Training, Examiner Preparation, CPD Coaching, IAM and RoSPA Preparation and, most recently, Media Training. Brian explains why this last element has been added: “There has recently been an explosion in the number of driving programmes being commissioned such as The Undriveables and Barely Legal Drivers.” Naturally, the production companies are always on the look out for instructors to star in such programmes and it makes sense to have some media training before you put yourself in the glare of the TV lights. Included in this arena is also radio programmes which often feature driving topics and need authoritative people to give advice and guidance. You could then be the ‘go-to’ guy or girl in your area when a talking head is required for motoring matters. This will broaden your network, enhance your CV and can provide another revenue stream.
Another avenue that could appeal is presenting Driver Awareness and Education Courses and for these it would be useful to have some training to enable you to present confidently and knowledgeably.
The first of the Publications was The ADI Part 3: Essential Information, and the most recent is 1771 Driving. In between those two, and spanning the intervening twenty-eight-years, have been a variety of books about the L test, and learning to drive, most notably The Driving Test: Essential Information, Hill Start Blues and L on Wheels. Books about training followed, with the publication of 6 Steps to a Higher Check Test Grade and Core Competencies Made Easy. A range of audio CDs was the next addition to the range. The Blueprint Series is a set of twenty audio CDs which cover all aspects of the PSTs for ADI Part 3. There is also a set of revision questions for the ADI Part 1, presented as a set of ten CDs they cover all of the necessary bands and topics for the ADI theory test. DVDs were added to the range with The Driving Test: Essential Information, designed to help pupils prepare for their driving test by explaining exactly what is involved, and debunking the various myths about the test. The next DVD was The Check Test: Success in 6 Easy Steps, a comprehensive guide to the check test, covering all of the key aspects.
Looking ahead, there are changes to the L Test [introduced 04 December 2017], the ADI Part 3 Test [introduced 27 December 2017] and the ADI Part 2 [introduced 27 December 2017].
All training courses will reflect the above changes and will provide clients with the necessary skill sets to take any test confidently.
