CONTENT |
This course comprises a detailed explanation of the Standards Check report form, with the emphasis firmly placed on Risk Management.
Mock Standards Checks will be conducted during the day in order to provide you with an even deeper understanding of the marking criteria, and to experience the examiner’s mindset when marking the form.
On the course you will be supplied with a set of printed notes, including the Standards Check form, an example of a reflective log and a CPD certificate of attendance.
DURATION |
The minimum period is one day, which is five hours: 09:00 – 15:00 with an hour’s break for lunch. You would be welcome to take more than one day, either consecutively or split – for example one day in the near future and then another day shortly before your Standards Check to ensure you are fully prepared.
COST |
The cost of this course is £375 + VAT at current rate, per day. Additional days, when booked and paid for at the same time as the first day, will be discounted.
NEED TO KNOW:
The ADI Standards Check lasts for 1 hour during which the examiner will observe you teaching a pupil. Your performance will be assessed under three main headings: Lesson Planning, Risk Management and Teaching & Learning Strategies.
To pass, you must score a minimum of 31 out of 51, and your score on Risk Management must be a minimum of 8 out of 15. If you score fewer than 8 on Risk Management it will be an automatic fail, even if your overall score is 31 or more.
There is currently no fee payable by the ADI for the Standards Check. It is funded from the registration fee that ADIs pay every four years. This system is likely to change and ADIs will self-manage the booking system for their own Standards Check and pay a separate fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Under the new legislation for the Standards Check you will need to provide a pupil. The role-play option that previously existed for the old ‘check test’ is no longer available. There are no exceptions to this.
So if you’re an ADI resident abroad, please contact us to arrange a bespoke package where we can help you with arranging a pupil, local test centre choice and route advice.
The same applies if you’re a UK resident and you’re perhaps not able to source a pupil. or your business has lapsed, or you’re taking a break from teaching for a while and haven’t got easy access to pupils.
NOTE: If you buy two or more training days together you will receive a discount.
TO BOOK: Please visit the contact page and leave your details. We’ll then be in touch to discuss the options that best suit your needs.
Clients visit for training from all over the UK, from the Outer Hebrides to Cornwall and many places in-between.
Reviews of Standards Check Training and the Books:
“…Just finished my first day teaching today and I am absolutely buzzing… I have looked forward to this day for a couple of years and it was worth the wait! What a day! Too many highs and not very many lows… I only had 3 students, two were complete beginners and one has had several lessons a couple of years ago… The two brand new drivers I got to the moving off and stopping stage… In fact, I got them to moving off, building up speed, road position (getting into 2nd) and safely stopping… They were both on cloud 9. The relatively experienced driver drove all the way home after thinking she couldn’t… She was delighted… I now totally understand the thrill of being part of someone’s development. Thank you for giving me the skills I needed… ”
Janice, ADI
“…Just got back from test and it’s a great result – 46 and a Grade A… So pleased to be in the A Team… thanks so much for your support… I liked the work we did on risk management and Q&A which was my weakness… once again, thank you… “
Steve, ADI, Grade A
“…I am over the moon… I am sooooooo chuffed… I would like to shout out a big thanks to you… Your training was fantastic… the books I purchased really helped as well… and I couldn’t have done it without your support and method of training… the examiner’s feedback was very positive… I achieved the Grade A and I am loving it!”
Tahira, ADI, Grade A
“…I scored 48 Grade A… Very pleased with that… Thank you for your guidance… I found the structure of the lesson – based on your Starter for 10 – got the lesson off to a really good start… The examiner said it was ‘Overall a very good lesson’… ”
Carol, ADI, Grade A
“…I am very pleased to say I passed with a 46 A… I really appreciate the help you have given me in achieving my number one aim… Thanks to you I still have a career [this was my third attempt]… The feeling of relief is indescribable… Thank you for all your help… the structure really helped and also the development of my Q and A… you also helped me to keep focused on the goals… and using bite-sized chunks and being very thorough… Thank you so much… ”
Adrian, ADI, Grade A
